Pretty Cool Song!
So I've been exploring more Christian music lately. I've found a lot of Christian Metal bands I knew nothing about before, as well as Christian rock and traditional gospel. I find that the softer stuff can speak to me more (I've found myself tearing up at Amy Grant and Casting Crowns before). So here's an exceptionally good Christian soft rock song by Rebecca St. James:
Isn't God amazing? He has made all of this wonderful music for us to listen to and praise him with! I feel that music (for me) is the best method (except for reading the Bible) of strengthening my faith.

Does God approve of homosexuality?
Before reading, remember these three things:
1) Homosexuality IS a sin and can be proven in scripture.
2) Homosexuality is NOT an especially bad sin, but a sin nonetheless.
3) All sins CAN be forgiven through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Recently, I've been involved in an argument with a YouTube user over whether homosexuality is really discussed in the Bible or not. I'm glad that I've had a chance to have this debate (which isn't even over yet) because previously, I really had no idea what the Bible really said about homosexuality! I always just assumed that the Bible had some sort of passage about homosexuality, or else it wouldn't be such a hot topic for debate! I'm thankful to God that I was able to use this debate to grow stronger in Biblical knowledge and to actually know where all of this debate originates to.
First of all, if I've been vague so far about my position in this issue, I'll clear it up right now. The Bible does indeed advocate opposite-gender marriages and nothing else. Though the Bible verses confirming this are sparse, they are indeed there and they can back up my position that, yes, homosexuality IS a sin which is undoubtedly discussed in both the Old Testament and the New Testament.
We can really start with Genesis 2:24, which automatically shows us that the only form of marriage is to be between a man and a woman. The verse is as follows:
"Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh" (KJV).
This obviously can tell us that a man is to seek out a WIFE, not a husband. Now, the YouTube user that I have been debating with seems to think that this verse is simply a suggestion, an option, and not a command from God. I answered this remark by telling him that this verse is like a father telling his son that he is to come straight home after school. If the boy goes out with his friends, is it a good excuse for him to say "Well, dad, you didn't say I couldn't go out with my friends!"? It isn't. When God says that a man shall leave his parents and get married, are we really supposed to take that as an option, and not a command? If we're going in that direction, we may as well refute all other commands in the Bible and claim them to be options. That verse isn't there for naught. If it was simply an option, why would it be said at all? NO alternative was provided. I repeat:
"Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh".
Now onto the next point. This one is even more direct, as if the last one could not put it into our hearts already that anything but Holy Union between a man and a woman is sinful. The verse is as follows:
"Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination" Leviticus 18:22 (KJV).
Now, the user had a pretty lousy rebuttal to this one as well. He referred back to more grisly passages of Leviticus calling for blood and murder (which, I should mention, are retracted by Jesus several times in the New Testament) and said that because those passages are not to be taken seriously later on in the New Testament, that we shouldn't take verse 22 seriously as well!
Now that would make all good sense to me and I would have admitted defeat, until I went a little deeper, and found out that, unlike those verses calling for blood that are retracted by Jesus, the verses exposing homosexuality as a sin carry on into the New Testament as well!
If you will refer to 1 Corinthians 6:9, you will catch this verse that denounces homosexuality as a sin in two places:
"Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind" (KJV).
First of all, we can look at fornicators. The correct definition of fornication is actually several definitions. This was what I found out about the definition:
"Fornication comes from a Greek word whose meaning includes: pre-marital sex, adultery, incest, homosexuality/lesbianism, and bestiality" (http://www.neverthirsty.org/pp/corner/read/r00094.html).
Can there be doubt here? The verse clearly states that fornication is a sin. And with the definition clear, it is obvious to see that homosexuality is fornication. Ergo, homosexuality IS sinful!
The second place where we can find a reference to homosexuality within this verse is the part that mentions the "effeminate". Now this one is a bit foggy and one can't be exactly sure if it means homosexuality, but I figured that it ought to be shown anyway. As we know, effeminate means to have feminine qualities atypical of a man. What kind of man other than a homosexual acts like a woman? Again, this isn't completely clear but we can see that this piece most likely refers to homosexuality, not simply a man acting just a bit like the opposite sex.
And here comes my final point to show you that the Bible does indeed denounce homosexuality as sinful. Romans 1:26-27 reads:
"For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
"And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet."
This verse is clear as day. Men burned in their lust one toward another! Does this not describe homosexuality? Apparently this YouTube user must think so, because he replied saying that this verse is simply interpreted incorrectly and is actually referring to prostitution. This is, simply, a lousy excuse for one who knows that he has lost. This verse clearly points out the sinfulness of homosexuality, and to refute that? This user is clearly in denial.
I have provided sufficient Biblical evidence to say with confidence that homosexuality is clearly a sin. To refute all of what I have said is pure ignorance of those who turn a blind eye to certain scripture to justify this sin.
However, I'd like to touch on another issue involving homosexuality and Christians. I have been approached by homosexuals before who think that they are hated by God and by Christians. After all, many Christians and churches (Westboro Baptist, namely) like to really go up against homosexuality, making it their life's work to make these people think that God hates them. This is simply not true. Many Christians think that they are perfect, and also that homosexuality is a "chief sin".
Isaiah 59:2 says:
"But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear" (KJV).
Going by this, we know that any sin separates us from God. No matter what sin it is, even if it's the smallest white lie, it causes us to be separated from our God. That means that all of us have sinned. "...There is none righteous, no, not one" (Romans 3:10, KJV). No one is better than anyone else. Everybody has sin. Homosexuals, thiefs, murderers, liars, everyone. I just want to make this clear, because some people seem to think that it's okay to single out people who have sinned in a certain way and make them think that they're hated by their Father because of it. They're not. We all may not be worthy of salvation, but we're all indeed eligible! All you have to do is pray to God and tell Him that you know that you are a sinner and are unworthy of his love, that you believe with all of your heart that He sent His son to die on the cross for you and for your sins so that you may enjoy eternity with Him in heaven, and that you wish to be forgiven of your iniquities. That's all it takes. Take advantage of that opportunity before it's too late.
It's getting late and I might as well go read my Bible and then go to sleep. Just remember these three things that I mentioned earlier:
